What is AVGS Coaching?

AVGS (Aktivierungs- und Vermittlungsgutschein) is a program funded by the German Federal Employment Agency (Agentur für Arbeit) designed to support individuals in achieving their career goals. With an AVGS voucher, you can receive personalized coaching sessions at no cost to you. These sessions are tailored to help you explore your potential, build confidence, and create actionable steps toward a successful future.

As part of the Transform Training team, I’m proud to contribute to this initiative, offering expertise in career transitions, leadership development, and work-life balance. Together, we’ll navigate the challenges of the job market and identify strategies that align with your unique strengths and aspirations.

Who can benefit from AVGS Coaching?

This coaching program is ideal for:

  • Individuals currently registered with the Agentur für Arbeit or Jobcenter.
  • Those seeking career guidance or support during unemployment.
  • Anyone interested in building skills for professional growth and self-confidence.

Whether you’re transitioning into a new industry, re-entering the workforce, or striving to find fulfillment in your career, AVGS coaching offers a structured and supportive environment to guide you through the process.

  2. Request an AVGS voucher: Submit the request to your Agentur für Arbeit or Jobcenter advisor and wait for approval.
  3. Sign the contract and schedule your sessions: After the approval, sign the coaching agreement and we'll schedule our sessions. Typically, the Agentur für Arbeit requests coaching sessions to be conducted twice a week, with each session lasting 90 minutes.

FAQ

Coaching is a powerful, collaborative process that helps you uncover your true goals, align them with your strengths, and create actionable strategies to achieve them. Unlike mentoring or consulting, coaching isn’t about giving advice or sharing personal experiences - it’s about asking thought-provoking questions that guide you toward clarity and self-discovery.

Short answer: no. But I will brainstorm with you, challenging you to get curious, research and explore, talk to people and validate the hypothesis. My work is not to make you follow my decisions, but teach you how to make decisions on your own. I can offer the resources available to me upon your request - like sharing the professional experience, network or knowledge. But does it fit you best? That's your call to make.

Unfortunately, no. Government-funded coaching in Germany (AVGS) is generally available only to people who have paid social security contributions in Germany for at least one year and are registered as unemployed through the Jobcenter or Agentur für Arbeit.
If you’re on a job-seeking visa (Chancenkarte), this funding usually doesn’t apply.

While coaching can be transformative, it is not therapy or counseling and cannot serve as a substitute for them.
Coaching focuses on achieving goals, personal growth, and creating strategies for the future. Therapy, on the other hand, often delves into healing past traumas, diagnosing mental health conditions, and managing psychological challenges.

If you are struggling with mental health issues, I encourage you to seek support from a qualified therapist. Coaching and therapy can complement each other, but they serve different purposes.

Imagine you want to open a bakery:

  • A consultant would give you a detailed roadmap, including financial projections and regulatory requirements.
  • A mentor would share their personal journey of opening a bakery, offering lessons from their experiences.
  • A coach would ask: Why do you want to open a bakery?, What do you already have to make it happen?, What obstacles do you foresee?, Is there another path that better fits your values and strengths?

Through coaching, you might realize it’s not the bakery you want but financial independence, community, or creative expression. A coach helps you explore these deeper truths, ensuring the steps you take are aligned with your authentic self.  Coaching isn’t about offering solutions - it’s about empowering you to define and pursue what’s truly meaningful to you. It’s the right choice if you’re ready to reflect, explore, and take ownership of your unique journey.
